Meet the Phoenix Power team

Dejan is an experienced banker, investor, and executive with 15+ years of experience advising and financing companies in the energy sector and other industries. While working for international financial institutions in Austria (VTB), Slovenia (UniCredit) and Bosnia (NLB and SID Bank), he has concluded numerous high impact transactions across the CEE region. He has strong relationships with entrepreneurs, business leaders and managers and is committed to enabling their companies‘ transition to clean and renewable energy. Dejan decided to co-found Phoenix Power and use his expertise and contacts to help expedite the European Green Deal. He holds a degree in Economics and is fluent in Slovenian, Croatian, Serbian, and English. Since 2014 Dejan has been living in Vienna with his family.

Ulrich has worked for 20+ years at Citigroup (London), Al Rajhi Bank (Riyadh) and VTB (Vienna), supporting sponsors, project companies and corporates throughout EMEA on structured financing solutions. While covering a number of industries, he has been able to gain considerable exposure to the energy sector through e.g. mandates for power projects in the Middle East, various transactions with CEE-based utilities, and project financings for renewable energy ventures in Eastern Europe. Ulrich has co-founded Phoenix Power to support Europe’s green transition by leveraging his expertise and contacts. Ulrich holds a Master of Law degree from the University of Vienna and a Master’s in Business Administration from Vienna University of Economics and Business. He is fluent in German, French and English. Ulrich lives in Vienna with his wife and 3 children.

Vladimir has over 20 years of professional experience with ING Bank (Amsterdam and Vienna) and VTB (Vienna). He covered a broad range of roles, providing corporates and project companies throughout EMEA with financial structuring advice and debt funding. Vladimir in particular was working with CIS-based energy and mining conglomerates on structuring and implementing large scale financings. By co-founding Phoenix Power, Vladimir intends to contribute to the growth of Europe’s renewable energy sector. Vladimir grew up in Moscow, where he studied mathematics at Moscow State University, before moving to Austria in 1992. In Vienna, he graduated from Webster University in 1999 with an MBA in Finance. Vladimir is fluent in Russian, German and English. He is married and lives in Vienna.

Markus has 25+ years energy sector experience and is owner of Oxford Energy, a consultancy company with energy sector focus and Europe-wide activities. After board assistance positions at the Austrian power producer Verbund and BA/CA Futures AG, he is self-employed since 2000 (own company Oxford Consult) in Oxford and London with strict specialisation on energy sector consultancy. Together with a select group of experts he works on projects for the international energy industry Who is Who (i.a. Shell, BG, Statoil and regulatory agencies). Additionally, Markus specialised in accompanying dynamically growing companies in the energy sector. Among others, he took a share in enerbility software Gmbh (energy trading, Vienna) and as director completed a successful exit to a US-based energy software company. Beside his study of economics & business administration in Vienna (Member of the Center of Excellence), Markus completed a PhD on the deregulation of the European electricity industry and the entrepreneurial MBA at the University of Oxford. He lives in Vienna with his wife and 2 children.

Marko has 20 years of business experience. He is an entrepreneur, pioneer of demand response and virtual power plant systems in Europe, with two successful startup exits in the field of IT and Energy, a founding member of the EU Smart Energy Demand Coalition (later renamed to SmartEn), a founding member of the EU Sustainable Energy Finance Association (SEFA) and a member of the European Battery Alliance (EBA). Marko is experienced in the development of new technologies and international projects with a focus on distributed power storage. Moreover, he is an expert in energy optimization systems through Energy Flexibility Management. Marko holds a Master of Economics degree from University of Ljubljana and an MBA. He is fluent in English, German and Slovenian and lives in Vienna with his wife and three children.
